❤️ Our Mission & Our Story

Saving Lives, One Paw at a Time.

Saving Lives, Healing Hearts, and Completing Families.
Welcome to Lucky Paws Rescue Foundation. We are more than just an animal rescue; we are a safe haven for dogs who have been forgotten, abandoned, misunderstood, or left behind. We are a passionate, volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to changing the lives of dogs in need, one paw at a time.

We believe that every single dog—regardless of their past, their age, or their medical needs—deserves the chance to experience the warmth of a soft bed, the security of a full bowl of food, and the unconditional love of a forever family.

🌟 Our Core Mission

Our mission is simple but urgent: To rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome vulnerable dogs while educating the community on responsible pet ownership.

🐾 Who We Rescue

We open our doors to dogs of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. While we love a wonderful mixed-breed mutt, our rescue network specializes in saving popular family breeds, brachycephalic (flat-faced) dogs, and delicate small breeds that often struggle in loud, stressful shelter environments.

Our foster homes frequently welcome:

The Loyal Companions: We rescue active, family-friendly dogs who just want a yard to play in, including Labrador Retrievers, Goldendoodles, and merry, scent-driven Beagles.
The Squishy Faces: We have a deep understanding of the unique medical and breathing needs of flat-faced breeds. We provide specialized vet care for rescued English Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, and Pugs.
The Fluffy & Fiercely Loyal: We regularly take in highly intelligent, hypoallergenic breeds that require consistent grooming and care, such as Poodles, Maltese, and Shih Tzus.
The Tiny Treasures: Shelters are incredibly dangerous for small dogs. We rush to pull tiny companions like Chihuahuas, Yorkshire Terriers (Yorkies), and Dachshunds to get them to safety.
Teacup Rescues: We are highly experienced in the delicate, specialized care required for ultra-small “Teacup” breeds. Because of their fragile size and potential health issues, we carefully vet adopters to ensure these tiny dogs are placed in safe, calm, and attentive homes.

🏡 The “Foster-Based” Difference

Unlike traditional animal shelters, Lucky Paws Rescue Foundation does not operate out of a kennel facility. We are a 100% foster-based rescue network.

What does that mean for the dogs? It means they never have to sleep on a cold concrete floor. The moment a dog enters our rescue program, they are placed directly into a loving, indoor foster home with one of our dedicated volunteers.

Because our dogs live in real homes, we are able to:

Evaluate their true personalities outside of a terrifying shelter environment.
Start basic training, including potty-training, crate-training, and leash walking.
Provide dedicated medical recovery for dogs recovering from surgeries, malnutrition, or neglect.
Test their compatibility with children, cats, and other dogs, ensuring we make the absolute perfect match when it comes time for adoption.

🏠 Step 4: The Home Check
To ensure the safety of our rescues, we require a brief home visit. (Depending on your location, this may be done virtually via Zoom/FaceTime!)

We are not checking to see if your house is perfectly clean or if your dishes are done.
We are simply checking for safety hazards—like making sure the yard is secure for a wandering Goldendoodle, or ensuring there are no dangerous gaps in the fence where a tiny Chihuahua or Yorkie could slip through.
🎉 Step 5: Happy Tail! (Gotcha Day)
Once approved, it’s time to make it official!

You will review and sign our Lucky Paws Adoption Contract.
You will pay the adoption donation fee (which goes directly back into rescuing the next dog).
We will hand over all veterinary records, microchip info, a starter bag of food, and your new furry family member!
💡 Why is the Process So Thorough?
We know you are excited to bring your new dog home, and sometimes waiting can be tough. But please remember that many of the dogs at Lucky Paws Rescue Foundation have already been abandoned, neglected, or surrendered once in their lives. Our thorough process is our promise to them that they will never lose their family again.

🩺 What Does the Adoption Fee Cover?
Lucky Paws is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We do not make a profit on adoptions. Your adoption donation helps cover the extensive medical care your dog received before going home, which always includes:

A comprehensive nose-to-tail veterinary exam
Spay or Neuter surgery
Age-appropriate core vaccines (Rabies, DHPP, etc.)
Heartworm testing and preventative medication
Flea and tick prevention
Microchip registration

🏡 The Adoption Process at Lucky Paws Rescue Foundation

Finding Your Perfect Match
At Lucky Paws Rescue Foundation, our ultimate goal is to create lifelong bonds. We don’t just want our dogs to find a home; we want them to find their forever home.

Whether you are looking for an active Labrador Retriever to join you on hikes, a loyal French Bulldog to keep you company on the couch, or a fragile Teacup pup that needs a quiet and gentle environment, our adoption process is designed to ensure the absolute best fit for both you and the dog.

Here is what you can expect when you decide to rescue with us:

🐾 Step 1: Browse & Apply
The journey begins right here on our website! Take a look at our “Adoptable Dogs” page to read the bios, view the photos, and learn about the personalities of the dogs currently in our foster care.

Once you find a dog that steals your heart, fill out our Online Adoption Application.
Be honest and detailed! Tell us about your lifestyle, your family, your work schedule, and any current pets.
📞 Step 2: The Friendly Phone Interview
Once we receive and review your application, an Adoption Coordinator from the Lucky Paws team will give you a call.

This isn’t an interrogation—it’s a conversation! We want to get to know you better.
We will discuss the specific needs of the dog you applied for. For example, if you applied for a Beagle, we might discuss your yard fencing. If you applied for a Dachshund, we might talk about keeping them safe around stairs.
🐕 Step 3: The Meet & Greet
If it sounds like a great match, it’s time to meet your potential new best friend!

Because our dogs live in loving foster homes (not in a shelter), we will arrange a time for you to meet the dog and the foster parent.
If you already have another dog at home, this is when we will do a carefully supervised “doggy introduction” to make sure everyone gets along safely.
🏠 Step 4: The Home Check

Testimonials

“The adoption process at Lucky Paws is incredibly thorough, and I mean that in the best way possible. They truly care about where these dogs end up. Our interview felt like chatting with a friend!

Jane F

I love that this is a foster-based rescue. When we adopted our dog, the foster mom knew exactly what his personality was like, how he walked on a leash, and his favorite toys. No surprises

Mike R

The home check was a breeze. They just wanted to make sure our yard was safe. You can tell the volunteers put their whole hearts into this foundation.

Veronica C

Best rescue experience I’ve ever had. They were so transparent about our dog’s history and medical needs. I will only adopt from Lucky Paws from now on.

Amanda K

We applied for a dog that ended up not being a good fit for our lifestyle, but the coordinator helped match us with another dog that was absolutely perfect. Trust their matchmaking process!

Ryan P

Every volunteer we interacted with was kind, professional, and clearly passionate about saving animals. Thank you for our new best friend.
